Earth is Sick- a poem

The doctor walked up to me

And told me I was dying

I asked him why

He sadly replied

“Parasites swarm your body

They steal your oil

Plunder your fossils

Smoke your lungs

Burn you to a crisp

Hunt your endangered bacteria for sport

Take more

They kill each other

For more

They carve your skin

Into mansions

They steal your life

They kill you”

I started to cry

And that was before

He mentioned they were transmittable

My dear friend,

Mars,

Who stood by the door,

Began to cry

Knowing he was next

He would die from the same fate

And Venus,

My girl,

Would be after him

Oh

How frightful

My parasites

Would kill everyone

In my galaxy, my system

The doctor handed me

A purple vial

The words

COVID-19

Etched onto it

He sighed

And said “drink

This is your only

Chance at

Survival

This will kill many

Of your parasites

Just pray they don’t build

Immunity

This will wipe

Them out

Just drink it”

I didn’t feel a choice

So I drank

Begone, parasites!

I shall be free of you

Soon!
